Banks Lure Consumers with Balance Transfer Cards

Date: Mon, 25. January 2010 15:29:38
Australia’s banks are luring consumers with high credit card debt into special low rate credit card balance transfer offers but analysis by financial comparison website mozo.com.au reveals the most important factor for consumers looking to tackle credit card debt is not the interest rate, but the speed in which they intend to pay off the balance. 0% APR Introductory Credit Card Offers Still Exist@PFBlog.com: T

Date: Fri, 16. May 2008 23:31:36
WSJ columnist Jane J. Kim reviewed the trick of profiting from introductory credit card offers and declared that there are still enough opportunities for those we are willing to take a temporary hit on credit score for a couple of extra grands a year: "The increasingly popular strategy involves applying for a slew of credit cards that charge 0% interest on balance transfers, then parking those borrowed funds in high-yield online savings accounts, which often pay 5% or more. Then, just before the cards' introductory period expires, typically in 12 months, you pay off the loans and pocket the interest earned. ... Competition among card issuers for new customers is so intense that companies can't afford to do away with the generous offers altogether. American Express Co., Citibank, J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. and Bank of America, for example, say they still offer no-fee, 0% balance transfers to selected customers." I myself am a loyal practioner of the practice, and in the past 12 months alone, I maintained an average credit card balance of over $40,000 in 0% APR or low-APR balance transfer offers. That's probably the easiest $2,000 I pocketed last year. In case you don't know where to find these offers, below are some cards you can look at. They all include introductory 0% APR balance transfer offers for 12 months or longer with credit card annual fee. I included those with capped balance transfer transaction fees since with a larger balance transfer, arbitrage profit can still be obtained under capped fee arrangements. READ FULL POST ... I think not. These cards became popular many years ago because they allowed budget travelers to earn frequent flyer miles from everyday purchases like groceries and oil changes. But airline frequent flyer miles have become increasingly difficult to use as a budget travel tool. Many of us like to shop multiple airlines for a good deal, pay for those bargains in cash, and then use travel rewards to book hotels or car rentals. A a href=http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc#038;zu=http://budgettravel.about.com/od/airfarescruises/a/picks_bankcards.htmbank-based travel rewards credit card/a works quite well in that scenario. What is best for you? There is no blanket answer. You must look at your own patterns of spending and travel. You must ask yourself if being tied to one carrier through an a href=http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc#038;zu=http://budgettravel.about.com/od/aircreditcards/qt/airlinecreditcard.htmairline credit card/a is best. /p p style="background:#f5f3ef;border: 1px solid #d5d0bf;padding:.5em;"a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hczu=http://budgettravel.about.com/b/2009/11/08/airline-credit-card-questions.htm"Airline Credit Card Questions/a originally appeared on a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hczu=http://budgettravel.about.com/"About.com Budget Travel/a on Sunday, November 8th, 2009 at 16:28:20./ppa href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hczu=http://budgettravel.about.com/b/2009/11/08/airline-credit-card-questions.htm"Permalink/a | a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hczu=http://budgettravel.about.com/b/2009/11/08/airline-credit-card-questions.htm#gB3"Comment/a | a href="http://budgettravel.about.com/gi/pages/shareurl.htm?PG=http://budgettravel.about.com/b/2009/11/08/airline-credit-card-questions.htmzItl=Airline Credit Card Questions"Email this/a/p
